St. Bart's Hospital was a scary place at times. When the sun went down and the fluorescent white-washed walls emptied, the entire building gave off an aura of sickness and death. Even the cluttered labs became un-nerving with the lights out, with misshapen shadows thrown in sharp relief against the walls.
However, the mortuary was by far the most un-nerving of all the wings of Bart's. It was unsettling on a good day, but with the lights out and the rest of the hospital quiet and the general eeriness that covered everything between the late hours of the night and early hours of morning, anyone would be hard-pressed to not be bolting for the door. Only two people had ever really been un-phased by this atmosphere. One had once been the world's only consulting detective and had since spent a single cold night on one of the metal tables, wrapped in a bodybag.

He hadn't spoken to Donovan or Anderson since the incident and he wasn't sure how he would react should be accidentally bump into them while looking around. Upon seeing John, the detective inspector did a double take as if he thought his eyes were deceiving him. Perhaps like John, it was so easy for him to remember the days when it was unusual for Sherlock Holmes not to be at the scene of a particularly strange murder. "John?" He asked, eyebrows knitting together in confusion. "What are you doing here? This is a crime scene." He hadn't meant the statement to sound quite so harsh, but the question stood.
"Er," He replied, suddenly realizing that this may not have been such a good idea. Of course he wouldn't be able to just walk into a crime scene like he had done with Sherlock. The same rules didn't apply now, he was just being stupid. "Sorry, I just..."
